Undertrial prisoner dies at sub-divisional hospital while undergoing treatment

Rairangpur: An undertrial prisoner, who was previously lodged in Rairangpur Sub-Jail of Mayurbhanj, died today at sub-divisional hospital here while undergoing treatment.

The deceased was identified as 48-year-old Gobinda Bindhani, the son of late Param Bindhani from Jata village under Tiring police limits of the district.

Gobinda was arrested on January 3 in connection with illegal trading of ancient Hanuman Coin.

According to a police source, Gobinda had complained of chest pain and fell sick. Following which, he was admitted to the health facility for treatment.

However, it has not been ascertained yet whether the undertrial prisoner died due to cardiac arrest or any other reason, the senior official in Rairangpur Town police station said.

Meanwhile, the sub-jail superintendent Bulu Matia has visited Jata village and expressed his grief over the death of Gobinda. He also consoled the bereaved family members.
