Undertrial prisoner gives jail officials slip, flees for 2nd time in Odisha

Nayagarh: Challenging the security on premises of the Khandapada sub jail, an undertrial prisoner gave jail officials the slip for second time here today.

The prisoner Tapan Rout, who is a rape accused from Fategarh area in Nayagarh district, trickily escaped from the Khandapada sub jail while the officials were busy in monitoring cleaning work in view of the visit of district judge.

According to reports, the accused was arrested on charges of raping a minor girl. He managed to flee by climbing over the jail boundary when his inmates were engaged in work to welcome the judge.

This was his second tricky escape from the jail within three months.

Earlier, Tapan had reportedly escaped from the jail in Khandapada on June 10. A jail official was also suspended in this connection. Again, he was caught by the police last month and sent to the prison.
