Unlock 1: Odisha Schools, colleges, educational institutions to remain shut till July 31

Bhubaneswar: Odisha Government today announced that all schools and colleges across the state will continue to remain closed till July 31.

Briefing the Unlock-1 guidelines, Chief Secretary Asit Tripathy today said all schools, colleges and other educational institutions across the state will remain closed till July 31.

Earlier yesterday, School and Mass Education Minister Samir Ranjan Dash had informed that schools across the state, which have remained closed due to lockdown, will not reopen on scheduled date of June 17. However, online classes are continuing in the state, whereas evaluation of answer-sheets  of Matric and Plus Two examinations have already begun in the state.

The Centre in its guidelines has not mentioned any specific date for reopening of educational institutions in July underlining that all stakeholders, including states and parents’ feedback will be taken before deciding on the exact date for the reopening.

This apart, the Chief Secretary today informed cinema halls, gymnasiums, political and social gatherings, public worship at religious institutions and shopping malls will remain closed till June 30.
