UNLOCK begins in Odisha from Aug 1; COVID-19 curbs eased

Bhubaneswar: In view of the decline in COVID-19  cases, Odisha Government today announced beginning of unlock process in the state.

Informing this, Special Relief Commissioner (SRC) Pradeep Jena said as number of daily positive cases have declined in as many as 27 districts, the state Government has decided to begin unlock process.

As part of the relaxations, shopping malls and parks will reopen across the state. However, night curfew between 8pm and 6 am will continue in all 30 districts.

As cases in Cuttack, Khordha and Puri districts still remain high, weekend shutdown will continue in Cuttack, Bhubaneswar and Puri towns. However, social and political institutions will continue to remain closed.

However, decision to reopen religious institutions will be taken by respective district administrations, the official added.   

“Malls, restaurant, bars and cinema halls will reopen with 50 per cent capacity in adherence to COVID-19 protocols. However, in Bhubaneswar, Cuttack and Puri, only fully vaccinated people will be allowed inside these places,” informed the SRC.
