Unmoved by FANI, Odisha’s Kalinga Stadium to host FIH Series Finals

Bhubaneswar: Even as cyclonic storm FANI left a trail of destruction in Odisha capital and damaged Kalinga Stadium here, Hockey India today confirmed that FIH Series Finals will be held at the venue as per the previously finalised schedule.

“Hockey India confirms that the upcoming FIH Series Finals scheduled to be played between June 6-15 will be hosted at Kalinga Stadium, Bhubaneswar as the stadium remains unperturbed by Cyclone Fani,” tweeted Hockey India.

“Our team took stock of the situation at the Kalinga Hockey Stadium which has suffered minor damages that can be repaired by the end of May. We are working relentlessly to restore the stadium operations,” said Vishal Dev, Secretary, Sports & Youth Services Department.

A team comprising of technical officials from Hockey India will evaluate the stadium after which necessary action will be taken, department sources said.
