The unofficial website of Ganjam district Regional Transport Office (RTO) in southern Odisha has been reportedly hacked by attackers following which it has been pulled down and inquiry has begun into it.

The website (www.rtoganjam.com) defacement has been claimed to be done by Abbas Abraham, a Pakistani hacker.

“We have world power – Anonymous Community. Abbas Abraham waz Here...Free Kashmir Freedom is our goal. We have Freedom for muslims. My next on your Government, Educational, Companies sites...,” the website content read.

Pakistan Zindabad and Pakistan’s flag were also posted on the website by PCC (Pak Cyber Crews), an anonymous offline security breaker.

Responding to the development, DIG of police (southern range) Amitabh Thakur said, “This was not the official website of Ganjam district RTO. A test website was hosted by the initiative of RTO for public convenience. It seems that some mischievous elements have hacked the website and have given slogans on Kashmir independence on it. A case has been registered with Chhatrapur police station and we have sought the assistance of Crime Branch to trace the IP (internet protocol) address of the hacker.”

“A case has been registered and we are investigating into the case. The hacker’s IP address has been traced,” Crime Branch ADG BK Sharma informed.

The officials claimed that it was not a government website and it was hosted by RTO for public convenience which was later transferred to the official domain.

“A test website was hosted containing information on Ganjam RTO for people seeking information and services offered by it. The database was shifted to the government website and the earlier one was not operational since last one month. The official website has gone live under NIC. After coming to know about the website being hacked, we have blocked it and registered a case with local police station,” Ganjam RTO Sanjay Kumar Biswal said.

Notably, the hacker broke into the security of various Indian websites, including government sites, in the past and posted it in its Facebook page-- www.facebook.com/PakCyberCrews. In February last year, Abraham had hacked the official website (www.ada-agra.com) of Agra Development Authority.
