Unseasonal rain: Odisha seeks report on crop loss

Bhubaneswar: Odisha government’s Revenue and Disaster Mitigation department today directed all District Collectors to submit reports latest by December 18 on crop loss sustained by farmers in the State due to unseasonal rain triggered by low pressure and subsequent depression recently.

Also, District Collectors of Puri, Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack and Jajpur have been asked to submit reports on crop loss after conducting a joint assessment by the departments of Revenue and Agriculture as a total of 19 blocks in these districts have received above 50mm rainfall.

“All District Collectors have been directed to submit reports of crop damage if any in their respective districts. Particularly, District Collectors of five districts- Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Jajpur, Kendrapara and Puri have been asked to submit reports on crop damage in these districts,” informed Revenue Minister Maheswar Mohanty to reporters here today.
