The complete compilation of Odia encyclopedia—Jnanamandal—was presented to Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik at state secretariat here yesterday.
The latest and complete version of the encyclopedia was presented to the Chief Minister which was left half-done by Padmashree Binode Kanungo, the initiator of encyclopedia movement in India.
“Delighted to receive updated edition of Odia encyclopedia Gyana Mandal,” Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik tweeted.
Mass Education Minister Devi Prasad Mishra, linguist Arvind Patnaik and editor of Jnanamandal Deepak Kanungo and other members of Jnanamandal Foundation were present on the occasion.
Notably, Kanungo was an eminent freedom fighter, Gandhian, author, erudite scholar, journalist, popularizer of science, and spearheaded the movement for spreading enlightenment among the people in the post-independence era.
