Upset after being denied money, youth kills father in Odisha

Dhenkanal: In a ghastly incident, a youth allegedly murdered father over family dispute at Korian Kolisahi village under Town police limits in Dhenkanal district late last night. The Town Police detained the youth and his brother while trying to cremate the deceased father today morning.

Trilochan Pradhan’s elder son Prakash asked for money last night when he came to know his father has gifted a costly motorcycle to younger son Deepak. Besides, anger was simmering in Parkash over ancestral land dispute.

After Trilochan refused to give money as per the demand, Prakash beat up his father and cut his throat with a sharp blade. Also, Prakash smashed Trilochan’s head resulting in death of his father on the spot.

During the incident, Trilochan’s younger brother was reportedly away from home.

The Town Police came to know about the incident from its sources. When the two brothers were on their way to a stone quarry carrying the deceased’s body for cremation today morning, the police nabbed the accused. The body was also sent for post mortem.

Police sources said the two brothers have been detained for questioning as part of its investigation.
