Utalika celebrates Diwali in Qatar

Doha/Bhubaneswar:  Utalika, a socio-cultural organization of Odisha in Qatar, recently  celebrated Diwali at Holiday Villa Hotel, here.

This year’s Diwali was more special as the whole of Qatar has been decorated like a queen for the FIFA 2022 event.

On this festive occasion, Utkalika managed to bring together almost 300 members which is believed to be the largest gathering till date. President Dr Basanta Kumar Kabi lit the lamp along with all Management Committee members and addressed the gathering. He paid rich tribute to the past presidents and apprised the audience about the evolution and milestones of Utkalika along with the significance of the festival. The varied cultural programs including Odia drama mesmerized the audiences. Cultural Secretary Ipsita Satpathy and the Joint Cultural Secretary Om Prakash Parida conceptualized the program whereas General Secretary Abinash Acharya, Vice President Nihar Ranjan Mohanty, Joint Secretary Bibhu Acharya and treasurer Sagar Mohanty led the team from the front.

The program also got substantial support from Management Committee members Deepika Nayak, Jayashree Mohapatra, Dr Sarada Prasad Dakua, Poonam Janapareddy, Niharika Bhuyan Swain, Satyajit Samal, Priyadarshi Dash, Paramananda Rout, Chinmay Patra, Trupti Pattnaik and Tushar Mishra.

The advisors’ committee comprising of Dr Bidya Bhushan Mohanty, Kharabela Panigrahi, Saroj Kumar Panda, Kazal Prasad Biswal, Debashish Parija and Gautam Meher significantly contributed and oversaw the arrangements. The sumptuous Odia authentic food was served and the members continued to dance to the tune of DJ till midnight when the evening was completed with the vote of thanks and a promise to comeback bigger and better.
