World Environment Day: Modi urges people’s participation for greener planet

New Delhi, June 5 :

Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Environment Minister Prakash Javadekar on World Environment Day Thursday called for government and people’s participation to make the planet cleaner and greener.

“Lets serve as trustees, where we utilise our natural resources for the present and at the same time ensure happiness of future generations,” Modi said in a tweet.

“Along with government efforts, people’s participation can make a big difference in creating a cleaner and greener planet,” he added.

In a series of tweets, Modi said that World Environment Day is a day to bow to mother earth and to reaffirm our pledge to protect the environment, making our planet cleaner and greener.

“We are blessed to be a part of a culture where living in complete harmony with the environment is central to our ethos,” Modi said.

“Let’s ensure that even the smallest step we take in our daily lives will be an effort towards conserving nature and natural resources,” the prime minister added.

Javadekar called for the preservation for the environment and said in a tweet: “Healthy environment is our gift to the children. Let’s protect our environment!”

Adding that everyone should collectively work towards the country’s development and the protection of the environment, Javadekar said: “Let’s take oath to put collective efforts to make the environment safe and sustainable”.

Home Minister Rajnath Singh too tweeted saying that it is essential to preserve the environment not just for the present, but also the future generations.

“There is a clear and present danger of ‘Climate Change’ facing the world today. We need improved management of our forests and agriculture,” Singh tweeted.

“On World Environment Day today we need to remind ourselves that we must have a firm resolve to protect our fragile environment,” he added.
