Utkal University’s 50th Convocation: RBI Governor among 5 receives D.Litt degree

Bhubaneswar: Vice President M. Venkaiah Naidu today presented the honorary Doctor of Literature (D. Litt.) degree to five dignitaries including Reserve Bank of India (RBI) Governor Shaktikanta Das at 50th Convocation of Utkal University in Bhubaneswar.

CAG Girish Chandra Murmu, Orissa High Court Judge Justice Sanju Panda, Bhabha Atomic Research Center Director Ajit Kumar Mohanty and Odisha Adarsha Vidyalaya Sangathan Adviser Bijaya Kumar Sahoo are among five notables who were conferred with the honorary degree by the the Vice President for making excellency in their respective fields.

Naidu addressed the distinguished guests and students in Odia language at 50th Convocation  presided over by Odisha Governor Prof Ganeshi Lal and State Higher Education Minister Arun Sahoo in attendance as the Guest of Honour.

“Namaskar! Ehi Sundar Mandira Malini Sahara Bhubaneswar re thiba Utkal Viswavidyalaya ra pachasa tama samabartan samaroha abasara re upsthita hoi mu atyanta anandita. Samasta chhatra chhatri mananku mora abhinandan ebang subhechha.” (My dear youngsters, parents, faculty members, syndicate members and also the other guests who have been invited to the function. It gives me immense pleasure to be here on the occasion of 50th convocation of Utkal University in this beautiful Temple city of Bhubaneswar).

On the occasion, as many as 41 students received Ph.D degree certificates and 90 students were awarded gold medals in different subjects for the academic session 2019-20. The doctorate and D.Litt. degrees were presented to 130 students and 90 students received gold medals for the academic session 2018-19 at the programme.
