An undertrial prisoner (UTP) charged with rape and murder of a minor girl and lodged at Odisha’s Angul jail died while undergoing treatment at the district headquarters hospital here today.

The prisoner identified as Shravan Kumar of Madhupur village under Bantala police limits who suffering from prolonged illness was admitted to the district headquarters hospital after his condition deteriorated last night, reports said.

Shravan had allegedly raped and murdered a minor girl of his village in 2014 and was lodged at the Angul jail as an undertrial prisoner. He was the  prime in the rape and murder case, reports added.
