Delanga: A man was detained today by police for allegedly keeping a homosexual relationship with his students over the last few years in Delanga locality of Puri district. He is the head of an institution teaching Vedic scriptures to poor Brahmin students from across Odisha.

The accused man was identified as Pandit Durga Prasad Tripathy.

According to a source, parents of some students from Bhubaneswar, Khordha, Puri, and Koraput districts reached the private Vedic school after the victims raised their voices against the illegal activity earlier in the day.

Later, the parents lodged an FIR with the Delanga police. Acting on the FIR, a police team picked up the accused and initiated a probe into the allegation, which is underway.
