Vehicle checking to be intensified during Zero Night, New Year celebrations in Odisha Capital

Bhubaneswar: Commissionerate Police-Bhubaneswar will intensify the checking of vehicles during Zero Night and New Year celebrations here. Police officers and forces will be deployed at several prime locations across the State Capital to prevent anti-social activities.

Motor vehicle checking will be carried out at 29 different locations from 7.00 pm to 2.00 am during the Zero Night. Quick Response Teams (QRTs) will make use of breath analyser devices at 18 of them, including Master Canteen Square, Kalpana Square, Khandagiri Square, and Rasulgarh Square.

Specialised Forces (SFs) will be put to service at Vani Vihar Square Over Bridge, Master Canteen Square, and NALCO Square along with PSS mobile patrolling and PCR mobile patrolling.

The teams will comprise four Additional DCPs, seven ACPs, 24 Inspectors, 87 sub-inspectors and ASIs. There will be as many as 14 platoons of force to assist the teams.

Similarly, on New Year’s Day, police officials and forces will be deployed at tourist places such as Nandanakanan, Deras & Jhumuka, Dhauli, Lingaraj temple, and Khandagiri. Policemen in plain cloth will be deployed at NICCO Park, Ekamra Park, Biju Patnaik Park, IMFA Park, Nehru Park & Jagajiban Park at Master Canteen Square, Botanical Garden, Nandankanan, Mukherjee Park, Vani Vihar, IG Park, Science Park, Goutam Budha Park & MG Park in CSPur, Shikharchandi temple and Jaydev Vatika.

The number of policemen to be deployed is 12 sub-inspectors and ASIs supported by eight platoons of force, 24 APR and 34 WC.
