Vehicular movement banned in this Odisha dist till July 31

Berhampur: Amid the rapid rise in COVID-19 cases in Ganjam, the district administration has taken an important decision of banning the movement of vehicles in the district till July 31, official sources said today.

However, vehicular movement in connection with agriculture, goods and health purposes will be allowed. Movement of two-wheelers will be allowed with authentic I-card only, sources added.

District Collector Vijay Amruta Kulange has requested the people not to leave their houses and not to travel more than one KM. Senior citizens must stay at home, the official said.

“Please don’t travel if not an emergency. Stay at home or at your workplace only. Avoid outside food as there are chances of social distancing violations. Don’t put your life at risk,” the Collector tweeted.

Worth mentioning, the district has registered the highest number of COVID-19 cases in the state as more than 1400 people have tested positive for the virus in the district. This apart, the disease has claimed 14 lives in the district so far.
