Very heavy rainfall to lash these Odisha districts on July 27; IMD issues Orange Warning

Bhubaneswar: Due to the prevalent monsoon trough, heavy to very heavy rainfall is very likely to occur at one or two places over two districts of Odisha during next 24 hours. India Meteorological Department (IMD) regional centre today issued Orange Warning in some districts for next 24 hours.

In its mid-day bulletin, the IMD regional centre mentioned, “The Well Marked Low Pressure Area over Westcentral and adjoining Northwest Bay of Bengal off north Andhra Pradesh-south Odisha coasts with the associated cyclonic circulation extending up to 7.6 Km above mean sea level persists. It is likely to move slowly northwestwards across north Andhra Pradesh-south Odisha coasts.”

The Monsoon Trough at mean sea level now passes through Jaisalmer, Kota, Raisen, Mandla, Durg, centre of Well Marked Low Pressure Area over Westcentral and adjoining Northwest Bay of Bengal off north Andhra Pradesh-south Odisha coasts and thence east-southeastwards to Eastcentral Bay of Bengal and extends up to 1.5 km above mean sea level, the IMD regional centre said.

Light to moderate rain or thundershower is very likely to occur at most places over the districts of South Odisha, North Interior Odisha and at many places over the districts of North Coastal Odisha.

The highest maximum (day) temperature of 35.0oC was recorded at Sambalpur and the lowest minimum (night) temperature of 22.0oC was recorded at Nuapada in the plains of Odisha.

Orange Warning (Be Prepared)- Heavy to very heavy rainfall is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Malkangiri and Koraput.

Yellow Warning (Be Updated)- Heavy rainfall is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Nabarangpur, Rayagada, Gajapati, Kalahandi, Nuapada and Bolangir.

For Thursday (Valid from 0830 hrs IST of 27.07.2023 to 0830 hrs IST of 28.07.2023)

Yellow Warning (Be Updated)- Heavy rainfall is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Malkangiri, Koraput, Nabarangpur, Nuapada, Kalahandi, Bolangir and Bargarh.
