Veteran Odisha cine artist Ajit Narayan Das popularly known as Ajit Das today joined Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) at party state headquarters here.

The versatile actor and famous theater director joined the saffron party in the presence of Union Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, state unit president Basant Panda and other leaders.

“I am not a politician, rather an actor. I have not joined the party to be a leader. I will work towards development in the field of art and culture in the state,” said the celluloid hero of yesteryear, Ajit Das.

I joined the party as I was being cordially invited, he added.

Several other leaders from Congress also joined the party.

With the induction of Das into the saffron fold, the BJP has added further glamour quotient to the party.

Last week, renowned music director Manmath Mishra and popular comedian Harihara Mohapatra had joined the party. Earlier, Ollywood actors Pinky Pradhan, Pintu Nanda, Sritam Das, Ashrumochan Mohanty and director Sudhakar Basant had also joined the BJP.
