Headmistress arrested on graft charges

The headmistress of a government-run high school in Keonjhar district was today arrested by Vigilance department sleuths on charges of accepting a bribe from a contractual cook.

Kalpana Mishra, in-charge headmistress of Tarini Government Girl’s High School, Ghatagaon in Keonjhar distric,t was caught red-handed by Vigilance department officials in her office while she was accepting a bribe of Rs 8,000 from one Janaki Kuanr, a contractual cook of the school for processing and releasing her salary for the period from July 2013 to September 2013, said a release of the Vigilance directorate here today.

The bribe amount of Rs 8,000 was recovered from the working office table of the accused headmistress and was seized in the presence of witnesses. Her hand wash resulted in a positive chemical reaction confirming the acceptance of bribe, the release added.
