Vigilance arrests junior engineer for accepting bribe in Odisha’s Ganjam

Buguda: A team of Vigilance sleuths today arrested a junior engineer (JE) for accepting a bribe.

The JE identified as Sagarika Mohanty working in Buguda NAC of Ganjam district has been apprehended by the Odisha Vigilance team while demanding and accepting the bribe of Rs 4,000 from a complainant for processing a file for the plan approval of a building in favour of the latter’s father.

The entire bribe money has been recovered from the accused JE and later seized.

Following the trap, simultaneous searches are underway at two different locations associated with the JE from a disproportionate assets (DA) angle.

In this connection, Berhampur Vigilance PS case (No-21, Dtd. 01.11.2023, U/s 7 of the PC Amendment Act, 2018 has been registered. An investigation is on against accused Mohanty.
