Vigilance arrests revenue supervisor in Suliapada tehsil for taking bribe from blind person

Baripada: Odisha Vigilance today arrested a revenue supervisor named Sanjay Kumar Padhi, presently working in Suliapada tehsil office of Mayurbhanj district, for accepting bribe of Rs 2,500 from a blind person to facilitate the sanction of an incentive amount in the complainant’s favour.

The complainant deserved government incentive, which is given towards marriage between a person with benchmark disability and a normal person as per provisions of state SS&EPD department.

A source said that the complainant married a woman on November 3, 2022. He was then entitled to get the incentive amount of Rs 2.5 lakh as per the above scheme of the State government.

Subsequently, Padhi demanded bribe from the man to submit an enquiry report to Suliapada tehsildar as regards to marriage of the complainant. On getting information about this, the accused was nabbed red-handed. The entire bribe money was recovered from Padhi’s possession and seized.

Following the trap, simultaneous searches are underway at two different places associated with Padhi from disproportionate asset (DA) angle. Balasore Vigilance PS Case [No-3, Dated-7.2.2023 U/s 7 of the PC (Amendment) Act, 2018] has been registered in this connection.
