Vigilance arrests woman RI on graft charge in Odisha’s Kendrapara

Cuttack: The Vigilance officials arrested a woman Revenue Inspector for accepting bribe to produce a suitable verification report before a Tahsildar in Odisha’s Kendrapara district.

The sleuths caught Anita Tarai, RI of Baradia Revenue Circle in the district red-handed in her office room while accepting Rs 5,000 from one Sabita Mallick of Gualigaon village under Rajkanika police station in order to furnish verification report in favour of the complainant to the Tahasildar, Rajkanika.

Based on a complaint filed by Sabita, the officials of Vigilance, Cuttack division laid a trap today. The woman RI demanded the bribe amount from the complainant. Accordingly, Sabita went to the woman RI’s office room to give the bribe amount.

Anita directed the complainant to keep the bribe money on her office table. The Vigilance officials near the RI’s office immediately recovered and seized the bribe amount in presence of witnesses. Wash of the contacted portion of office table of the woman RI gave positive chemical reaction, confirming acceptance of bribe money by her. The sleuths then raided the RI’s house at Nuagaon in Aul.

A Vigilance official said the woman RI was arrested and forwarded to the court.

In this connection, Cuttack Vigilance P.S. case No.21 dt.13.12.2020 U/s 7 PC Act, 1988 was registered. Investigation into the case is on.
