Bhubaneswar: While Prasanta Kumar Rout, Additional Sub Collector, Nabarangpur has landed in Vigilance net over disproportionate assets, officers of the agency today recovered Rs 2 crore from the house of his neighbour at Kanan Vihar here.
The huge amount of cash in denominations of Rs 500 was stashed in six cartons.
Counting machines were being used to carry out the counting of cash.
Odisha Vigilance officials today raided multiple places in connection with allegation against Rout regarding possession of assets disproportionate to his known sources of income.
Sleuths of the anti-corruption agency carried out simultaneous house searches at nine locations on the strength of search warrant issued by Special Judge, Vigilance, Sundargarh.
The raids were being conducted at the following places.
(1) The double storied residential house of Rout located at HIG-115, Kanan Vihar, Bhubaneswar.
(2) The residential house of Rout located at Nabarangpur.
(3) The office chamber of Rout located at Nabarangpur.
(4) The parental house of Rout located at village Bahudarada, Bhadrak.
This apart, searches were being conducted at five other locations of acquaintances of Rout.
As many as nine teams of Odisha Vigilance consisting of two Additional SPs, seven DSPs, eight inspectors and other staff were engaged in the searches.
Till last reports came in, the raids were underway while the total value of his movable and immovable properties was yet to be calculated.
Rout was arrested by the Vigilance in 2018 for allegedly receiving bribe of Rs 1 lakh from a panchayat executive officer while he was serving as a BDO in Sundargarh district.
