Vigilance raids house, office of Odisha R&B asst engineer

Vigilance sleuths today conducted simultaneous raids at five places including office of an Odisha government staff in Puri.

Five teams conducted raids at the residence and office of assistant engineer of R&B (Roads & Building) Division of the Public Works Department (PWD) Sudhansu Mohan Sahoo in Puri and Bhubaneswar on charges of accumulating assets disproportionate to his known sources of income.

According to reports, the Vigilance officials conducted raids at three places in Puri and two places in Bhubaneswar. In Puri, his official residence, office and house in Sarbodaya Nagar was raided. In Bhubaneswar, his flat in BJB Nagar area and his parental house in Tankapani Road area were raided.

The value of the two-storey building at Puri has been estimated at Rs 15 lakh, sources said.

“We have detected property worth around Rs One crore. Two bank accounts having around Rs 11 lakh, insurance policies, cash, around 200 gm gold, and land records of two plots in Patia and Tomando in Bhubaneswar were found. Search is on and a final estimate can be done after the search is over,” a raiding party member said.

Notably, the officer was posted in the Pilgrim Town since over 15 years. He was supervising several infrastructure projects and involved in the Nabakalebara projects too.
