Vigilance seizes Rs 7.5 Lakh from Boipariguda IIC in Odisha’s Koraput, detained

Boipariguda: A team of Vigilance sleuths intercepted Boipariguda police station IIC identified as Susanta Kumar Satpathy at a place near Tankua locality in Jeypore town of Koraput district when he was on his way to his permanent residence in Cuttack City by a private bus today evening.

Based on reliable inputs about the movement of Satpathy, the Vigilance team caught him. Satpathy was carrying cash of approximately Rs 2.70 lakh with him, which was later seized by the team from his possession as he could not account for it satisfactorily. Vigilance suspects the money to be ill-gotten.

Further, Rs 1,80,000 was recovered from his office chamber at Boipariguda police station and Rs 3 lakh from his government quarters in Boipariguda during a search. A total cash of Rs 7.5 lakh has been seized so far. The IIC has been detained and a probe initiated. He is being questioned in this connection.

Detailed investigation was underway till the time when this report was filed.
