Vijay Hazare Trophy: Odisha loses third match in row

Odisha lost to Railways by 6 wickets in a group stage match of Vijay Hazare Trophy played at Palam A Stadium in Delhi today, thereby losing three consecutive matches in the tournament.

Winning the toss and electing to bowl first, Railways restricted Odisha to 228 for the loss of 8 wickets in the stipulated 50 overs.

Opener Sandeep Pattnaik was the highest contributor with bat for Odisha scoring 85 off 117 balls.

Chasing 229, Railways suffered early jolt losing opener Asadullah Khan on the third ball of the innings when the team score was nil.

However, the innings was well restored by other batsmen as opener Shivakant Shukla and Ashish Yadav scored 30 off 44 and 45 off 65, respectively.

The innings was carried further by Arindam Ghosh (45 off 66) and wicketkeeper batsman Mahesh Rawat, who emerged as the highest scorer for Railways with 88 not out off 97 deliveries ensuring victory for his team.

With the loss, Odisha continues to remain at the bottom of the Group-A table pocketing 4 points with one win and four defeats.

Odisha are scheduled to face Punjab in their next and last group stage match on March 6.
