Mumbai, Jan 13:
Baroda were all set to take the first innings lead against Odisha at the end of the third day of the Vijay Merchant U-16 tournament here on Tuesday.
At close of play, Odisha were reeling at 197 for 6 in reply to Baroda’s 326.
Resuming at their overnight score at 7 without loss, Odisha lost four wickets quickly. However, Sandeep Pattnaik and Subrat Samal steadied the innings as they put up 88 runs for the fifth wicket.
Trouble started again after the dismissal of Pattnaik for 70 as Satyajit Sabat was out for a duck.
But Samal and skipper Subham Nayak managed to hang on till the close of play with 40 and 14 runs respectively.
For Baroda, Slok Desai and Dhruv Patel bagged two wickets each while Ninad Rathwa and PA Paliya claimed one wicket each.
With just four wickets in hand, Odisha still need 130 runs to take first innings lead. With only the tail-enders to follow, there is every likelihood of Baroda taking the lead instead.
