Villager shot dead by Maoists in Odisha

Koraput, June 22:

Maoists shot dead a man in Odisha’s Koraput district late on Saturday night, police sources said today.

The bullet-ridden body of the man, identified as Ashish Saunta of Tankuapada village, was found lying near Uparakanti village under Semiliguda block this morning.

A letter, written by the Maoists, was found near the body.

Local sources said Saunta was a supporter of the ruling Biju Janata Dal.

It is not yet known why the Maoists killed Saunta, police said, adding, combing operation in the area has been intensified to nab the red rebels.
