Villagers thrash thief to death in Odisha’s Ganjam

Berhampur: A thief was allegedly thrashed to death by villagers while his associate sustained critical injuries at Sunapali village under Kabisuryanagar police limits in Odisha’s Ganjam district, late last night.

The deceased has been identified as Ganga Kandi of Ranipada village in Polasara block of the district.

According to reports, Ganga and his associate went to Sunapali around 11.30 pm with an intention of theft. Later, locals nabbed the two and thrashed them mercilessly.

The duo was critically injured while Ganga was taken to the Polasara Hospital, where he succumbed to injuries during treatment.

The deceased’s wife has lodged a police complaint while further investigation was underway.
