Sambalpur: Burla police have registered a case into the incident of a clash between medical students of VIMSAR and medicos of MKCG Medical College, and started an investigation into the matter.

The case was registered on the basis of a complaint lodged by the dean of VIMSAR, Burla.

According to reports, the clash erupted yesterday on VIMSAR campus when 65 students of MKCG Medical College, Berhampur had come to attend 'Euphoria', an inter-medical college event.

Allegedly, a group of students of VIMSAR sprayed fire extinguishers on them, as a result of which some of them felt suffocated. A heated exchange of words ensued over the matter, which took a violent turn as the VIMSAR students attacked the visitors with sticks and stones.

As many as nine medical students were reportedly injured in the clash. One of them was undergoing treatment in the ICU.

As per a student of VIMSAR, the clash was a fallout of objectionable comments passed by the students of MKCG Medical College at some girl students of VIMSAR.
