VIMSAR ragging: 18 students fined Rs 54,000

Sambalpur: Taking action in connection with the alleged ragging at the Veer Surendra Sai Institute of Medical Sciences and Research (VIMSAR) in Burla, the authorities have fined as many as 18 students.

A penalty of Rs 54,000 has been imposed on the accused students. They have been warned not to get involved in such activities in future.

Worth mentioning, some second year students of VIMSAR had alleged that they were ragged by students of fourth year on March 10 night. The fourth year students had allegedly asked the second year students of the Boys Hostel to visit them during late night, during which they ragged the complainants.

A 3-member committee was formed to probe into the allegation.
