Violence before bypoll: Firing at BJP leader’s house in Odisha’s Bijepur

Bijepur: The bypoll-bound Bijepur in Odisha’s Bargarh district witnessed firing last evening as three rounds of bullets were fired at a BJP leader’s house in Pada village here.

According to eyewitnesses, some unidentified miscreants who had their faces covered came in a Bolero SUV and fired gunshots at the residence of Manoranjan Meher, circle president of Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM), the youth wing of BJP, at around 8 pm and fled the spot.

Though no causality was reported in the incident, the bullets pierced through door and wall of the house.

On being informed, Bijepur police reached the spot and started probe. The reason behind the firing is yet to be ascertained.
