Bhubaneswar: Julie Anne Genter, a Member of Parliament from New Zealand’s Greens is being hailed by netizens after photographs of her paddling to a local hospital during late hours of night to give birth to a baby, surfaced on social media platforms Facebook and Instagram.

On Sunday, Julie Anne Genter shared five photographs on her Instagram profile narrating her experience from cycling to the hospital during her contractions to giving birth to her second baby.

“Big news! At 3.04am this morning we welcomed the newest member of our family. I genuinely wasn’t planning to cycle in labour, but it did end up happening. My contractions weren’t that bad when we left at 2am to go to the hospital - though they were 2-3 min apart and picking up in intensity by the time we arrived 10 minutes later. (I’m smiling in the car park right after one.) And amazingly now we have a healthy, happy little one sleeping, as is her dad. Feeling blessed to have had excellent care and support from a great team, in what turned out to be a very fast (and happily uncomplicated) birth,” she wrote on her profile.

The woman MP’s pictorials touched many users on the social media platforms. Congratulating her on her second baby, netizens showered wishes on Genter and her family.

It is worth mentioning here, cycling to hospital to give birth to a baby was not a first for Julie Anne Genter. In August 2018, she had done the same when she had headed to give birth to her first baby.
