Viral video: Odisha cops nab 3 for raping, filming and uploading video

Bhawanipatna: Police arrested three youths including prime accused in connection with raping a teenage girl and uploading the video clip on social media in Kalahandi district.

The accused identified as Chittaranjan Guru and his associates Sushant and Mukund were arrested on Saturday.

All the three are from Bhatraguda village in the district. While the prime accused Guru had allegedly raped the girl, Sushant and Mukund had shot the video.

The girl was allegedly abducted by three youths, raped and filmed near a dam at Dharmagarh on March 31.

According to reports, the victim was kidnapped while she was returning from a temple on March 31 evening. She was taken to a guava orchard where she was allegedly raped by Guru in an inebriated state.

Reports said that the girl was forced to consume alcohol, then raped by Guru and the entire act was shot on a smartphone by two.

The three youths threatened her of dire consequence if she reveals the incident to anyone.

Later, the victim disclosed the incident to her parents after the video clip was circulated on social media.

Police launched investigation into matter on basis of the complaint lodged by the victim’s family at Junagarh police station.

The three accused were arrested yesterday. The investigation is still on to nab other culprits involved in circulating the video clip, said Kalahandi SP M Sandeep Sampad.
