Viral video of policeman urinating inside Puri Gundicha Temple: Cop’s suspension revoked

Puri: An on-duty policeman, who was suspended for allegedly urinating on premises of the Gundicha Temple in Puri, was reinstated within a few hours after the disciplinary action taken against him.

Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) today revoked suspension of Sudarshan Sahoo, an employee of Jagannath Temple Police,  in view of Bahuda Jatra of Lord Jagannath.

Earlier in the day, the Jagannath Temple authorities had placed Sahoo under suspension on disciplinary ground  after a video showing him urinating inside campus of the Gundicha Temple went viral on social media platforms.

It is to be mentioned that stage has been set for Bahuda Jatra (return of deities into Srimandir) scheduled on July 1. However, entry of devotees into the Gundicha Temple, where Lord Jagannath and His divine siblings stay during their 9-day-long sojourn, is completely prohibited due to COVID-19 restrictions enforced by the district administration. During the period, the video featuring a policeman urinating near a wall on premises of the Holy shrine drew flak from various quarters.
