Virat Kohli to step down as T20 Captain

Bhubaneswar: Team India skipper Virat Kohli today announced to step down as the T20 Captain. In a Twitter post, Kohli stated he had decided to step down as the T20 Captain after the T20 World Cup in Dubai on October 1.

Kohli also mentioned he decided to resign as the T20 Captain after a lot of contemplation and discussions with Ravi Shastri and Rohit Sharma.

He spoke to BCCI Secretary Jay Shah, President Sourav Ganguly and selectors in connection with this.

“I will continue to serve Indian Cricket and the Indian Team to the best of my ability,” Kohli wrote.

Kohli has thanked everyone who have supported him in his journey as the Captain of the Indian team in all formats. He also said that he has given everything to the team as the T20I captain and will continue to contribute to the team as a batsman in future.
