Bhubaneswar, Jan 10:

Voters of Saliasahi in Ward No-21 gheraoed the state election commission (SEC)1 (1)

Voters of Saliasahi in Ward No-21 today gheraoed the state election commission (SEC) office and submitted a memorandum demanding annulment of the elections in the ward alleging foul play.

BJD candidate Premananda Jena got elected from the ward defeating BJP candidate Nirmala Senapati.

Voters, accompanied by Bhubaneswar unit president of BJP women’s wing Bijaylaxmi Mohapatra alleged that while they voted for the BJP candidate during polling on Wednesday, it was the BJD candidate who got elected from the ward.

“We could not understand how the BJD candidate was elected from the ward while we voted for the BJP candidate. We demand that the SEC should annul the election in the ward and conduct fresh election,” said Mohapatra smelling a rat in the voting process.

She also threatened to take the matter before court.

However, SEC sources said that there would not be any re-election as the result had been declared and it was final.
