Vow to save Nature: Women tie Rakhi to trees in Odisha

Berhampur: Amid rise in environmental pollution posing threat to greenhouse effect, women celebrated the auspicious Raksha Bandhan today in a unique manner with a vow to save Nature.

The special occasion was observed by Ghumsur North Forest Division in different forests in Bhanjanagar area of Ganjam district where women tied rakhi (sacred thread) to trees.

Realising the need of oxygen during COVID-19 pandemic, the forest division in Ganjam started this unique initiative motivating locals for massive afforestation and preservation of forests as well to save lives.

Under supervision of Assistant Conservator of Forests (ACF) Sudarshan Badi, several women tied the rakhi to trees in presence of Rangers Bimbadhar Sahoo and Umakant Sahoo and other forest officials.
