VSSUT girl student goes missing as she jumps into power channel

Burla: A girl student of the Veer Surendra Sai University of Technology (VSSUT) here in Odisha’s Sambalpur district went missing last night after she jumped into the power channel here.

According to reports, Chinmayee Priyadarshini Sahoo, the missing student, had come to VSSUT from Madanpur Rampur in Kalahandi district to receive her educational certificate on the occasion of convocation ceremony.

Later, she went to the power channel bridge with one of her friends. Shockingly, she jumped into the power channel from the bridge and went missing.

On being informed, police and Fire Services personnel rushed to the spot and initiated a search operation to trace her.

Till last reports came in, the student was yet to be found.

Police have questioned her friend in connection with the incident. Her friend told the cops that Chinmayee was under mental stress due to family dispute and might have taken the extreme step of ending her life by jumping into the power channel, reports said.
