VSSUT student Chinmayee death: Viscera report reveals alcohol consumption before demise

Burla: In a significant development in Veer Surendra Sai University of Technology (VSSUT) student Chinmayee Priyadarshini Sahu death case, viscera test report revealed that she had consumed alcohol before her demise.

“The test found presence of ethyl alcohol. The deceased had consumed alcohol before death. We have seized a CCTV footage of Chinmayee and another person having liquor at a hotel,” said Sambalpur SP Battula Gangadhar.

The diatom report had earlier revealed that she died due to drowning. Probe is underway to ascertain whether she died by suicide or it was abetted, the police official added.

Notably, Chinmayee had come to VSSUT to receive her educational certificate on the occasion of convocation ceremony on February 28. Later, she went to the power channel bridge here with her friend in the evening.

As she went missing after falling into the power channel from the bridge, police and Fire Services personnel rushed to the spot and initiated a search operation to trace her. Her body was recovered near the power channel, next morning.

Police have filed murder case against two persons including her male friend Pritiman Dey.

A case under Sections 302, 201 and 34 of the IPC has been registered against Pritiman of BJB Nagar in Bhubaneswar and Manas Tudu, a final year student of VSSUT.
