VSSUT students demand online exams, sit on dharna

Burla: Demanding suspension of offline classes in view of possible third wave of Covid disease, students of the Veer Surendra Sai University of Technology (VSSUT), Burla in Sambalpur district today evening staged a dharna on the premises.

They stated as the State Government has directed to tighten Covid protocols and experts are of the opinion there are possibilities of the Covid third wave, offline classes and offline exams must be cancelled. Online classes must be conducted at the earliest, demanded the protesting students.

The VSSUT students also requested the university authorities for closure of the hostels.

Moreover, they accused the university authorities of ignoring the Covid related symptoms which have been seen among students.

A student said even though some Covid-related symptoms were found among some, the varsity authorizes have so far not made arrangements for Covid testing of their samples.

Repeated attempts were made to contact Vice Chancellor Prof Bansidhar Majhi and Hostel Superintendent Sanjay Kumar Patra, but they could not be reached for comments.

Few days back, as many as 21 girl students of the VIMSAR, Burla tested positive for Covid-19 virus.
