‘Vyasakabi’s legacy can inspire youth for a harmonious society’

Bhubaneswar: Fakir Mohan Foundation (FMF), New Delhi and its Odisha Chapter in collaboration with Rajdhani College in Bhubaneswar paid a befitting tribute to Vyasakavi with presentation of his poems in a musical rendition followed by speeches by dignitaries.

A talk by Asit Mohanty (renowned litterateur and editor of Paurusha) on ‘Rasagola and Fakir Mohan’ was an interesting highlight of the event. Vyasakavi’s great-granddaughter Dr. Monica Das (founder and chairperson of FMF) was the chief guest of the occasion.

Rajdhani College Principal Arun Kumar Samal thanked the speakers and felt honored for hosting the event.

Noted litterateur Dr. KC Pradhan, who is also the director of FMF, presided over the event. Manmath Nath the HOD, Odia department of the college, coordinated the function.

Prof. Rabindra Kumar Das (Secretary of Fakir Mohan Foundation) of Visva Bharati Shantiniketan gave the introductory speech. Singer Anindita Das, a Sangeet Kala Akademi Awardee, accorded the right touch to the occasion with her enthralling music.

Dr. Monica Das spoke eloquently about the strife-torn world of today and strongly emphasized on the role of the youth in setting a new order in the field of nation-building. According to Das, As many as 65 per cent people in India are youth. The youth can thus make a positive contribution to the process of the socio-economic development of our country, she said.

Emulating Fakir Mohan’s legacy can be highly inspiring for the youth to create a healthy and harmonious society. The FMF has structured a module that can sensitize the youth in this direction, she added.
