Wait is over: Registration begins for Odisha recruitment drive

Bhubaneswar, Aug 28:

The agonising wait for management and technical students in Odisha has finally come to an end. Bowing to the outrage among the students over the inordinate delay in initiating the much hyped recruitment drive, the Employment and Technical Education and Training (ET&T) department of Odisha government today began the registration process for the four-day special recruitment drive starting from September 17 at the Kalinga Stadium here.

The registration process would continue till September 10 and the passed out students can register their names and other details by clicking the link http://cpcdtet.nic.in/Nijukti.aspx

Only B Tech, M Tech, MCA, MBA and Pharmacy graduates can participate in the job fair. In order to get registered, they will have to give details of their university registration no, highest qualification, name of the institute, e mail address and mobile number.

Students aspiring to take part in the proposed recruitment drive will have to pay Rs 100 each for registration. They will pay the money online. The candidates are free to email their queries to [email protected] regarding registration or any other matter.

“The registration process has started from today and it will continue till September 10. We will issue advertisements in newspapers tomorrow to publicise the recruitment drive and encourage more and more participants,” said BPUT vice-chancellor Prof J K Satpathy, who heads the committee to oversee the job fair.

The website has also provided links for companies interested to participate in the recruitment drive.

However, the committee constituted to oversee the recruitment process is still not sure whether passed out students not affiliated with the Biju Patnaik University of Technology (BPUT) would be eligible to take part in the job fair or not, raising confusion and anger among the student community.

“So far, we have been informed that those who have passed out of BPUT can participate in the recruitment drive. We will discuss with the minister the issue of participation of private institutes that do not come under BPUT,” said Prof Satpathy.

The decision on the participation of private institutes not affiliated to BPUT could not be taken in the absence of ET&T minister Sanjay Dasburma, who is undergoing treatment in Mumbai, said sources in the department.

This reporter tried to contact the minister and department secretary Chandra Sekhar Kumar to clear the air. While the minister’s phone was found switched off, the secretary did not take the call even after several attempts.

A committee has been constituted under the chairmanship of the BPUT VC with representatives from Odisha Joint Entrance Examination (OJEE) and the Directorate of Technical Education and Training (DTET) as members to finalise the modalities for the fair.

According to sources, the first two days of the drive will be for B Tech, M Tech and MCA pass outs. MBA degree holders will take part on the third day on September 19 while the last day will be reserved for placement of pharmacy graduates.

About 300 companies are expected to participate in the job fair and recruit eligible candidates for their companies. A total of 40 stalls will be put up at Kalinga Stadium here to facilitate students’ interface with prospective employers during the proposed recruitment drive, officials said.

We;coming the government move, Biplab Prakash Mohanty, BPUT Students Protection Council president said; “We are really thankful to chief minister of Odisha, minister ET&T Dusburma and BPUT VC for turning our demand into reality. We also appeal to corporate houses inside India and abroad to be part with the historic BPUT placement drive-2014 and recruit the most efficient students of our state. History will remember every one of us who are associated with this drive for their contribution.”
