Police today arrested the couple which hacked to death another couple and grievously injured their daughters with an axe over a land dispute in Bagabahal village of Guna panchayat under Tusra police station limits in Odisha’s Bolangir district on Thursday.

Tusra police have arrested Til Dharua, a ward member and his wife Lila Dharua for allegedly hacking to death Madhu Mugri and Saki Mugri.

As per reports, deceased Mugri couple had allegedly grabbed a piece of land belonging to the Dharua couple. The couple and their two daughters Rashmita and Chandrika were engaged in agricultural work on this piece of land on Thursday when Dharua couple who claim to be the rightful owner of the said piece of land arrived on the spot.

They had an altercation following which the Dharua couple allegedly attacked the Mugri family with an axe.

While the Mugri couple succumbed to their injuries, the couple’s daughters who were also attacked by the Dharua couple with the axe and had sustained grievous injuries are undergoing treatment at hospitals.
