Sambalpur: Taking a unique initiative to put the disarranged education system in order, the district collector turned a teacher at classroom in a government high school here in western Odisha district Sambalpur.
The children were found listening to Collector Samarth Verma very attentively when he took class during his visit to the Lady Lewis Girls High School under 'Teach for Sambalpur' programme on Saturday.
Besides, the volunteers were also found taking classes in different schools under the programme launched by the district administration on September 29.
Total 123 volunteer teachers visited 50 schools and taught 2,035 students in presence of school teachers and parents in the district on Saturday.
Verma launched the initiative with help of volunteers in state-run schools for teaching the students under Mo School Abhiyan Yojana.
Under the scheme, the volunteers registered in IIM Sambalpur, Sambalpur University, Veer Surendra Sai University of technology, Gangadhar Meher University and various educational institutions are teaching the students in schools.
