[Watch]: Elephant calf captured in thermal camera while being escorted into forest in Odisha’s Keonjhar

Keonjhar: An elephant calf, belonging to a three-member herd, became sick a few days ago. Hence, the calf got separated from the herd and was later rescued by some forest personnel. The calf was under observation by a joint team of veterinary doctors and forest personnel.

However, the jumbo calf was adopted again and was seen being escorted into the forest by the herd after the little pachyderm became well today. This was captured in a thermal camera.

According to official sources, the jumbo calf got separated from the herd in Maidankel reserve forest of Keonjhar district. About 15 personnel led by two assistant conservators of forests (ACFs) were keeping a thorough watch on the calf’s movement through two thermal drone cameras.

Elephant rescue vans were also engaged for the purpose, an ACF expressed.
