Nuapada: In a bizarre incident, locals reportedly stole chickens from a pickup van as the vehicle carrying the fowls overturned on Biju Expressway at Bhela under Komna police limits in Odisha's Nuapada district, last night.

According to reports, the driver of the Kalahandi-bound pickup van lost control over the wheels, following which it turned turtle at around midnight. Many chickens died under the impact of the accident.

Fortunately, the driver escaped unhurt. However, he fled the place after the mishap.

This morning, locals gathered in large numbers at the spot of accident and stole the chickens, including the dead ones, from the damaged vehicle.

Police have started an investigation into the incident.
