[Watch] Road traffic hit as NH connecting Odisha & Andhra submerged due to incessant rain

Malkangiri: Incessant rain in southern region of Odisha wreaked havoc as the National Highway-326 connecting Motu in Malkangiri district and Chintoor in Andhra Pradesh was submerged affecting the vehicular traffic from both the sides.

According to reports, the rainwater was flowing 6 feet above the Kuigur bridge connecting Motu and Chintoor. Due to heavy rainfall, the NH turned into a large lake with several vehicles including buses and trucks stranded on both the sides.

Meanwhile, the road rout between Odisha and Andhra Pradesh remained cut off as a bridge on a major road connecting Chintoor and Bhadrachalam near Nellipaka in Telangana state was submerged by the floodwater.

Total 684.2mm rainfall was recorded in Malkangiri district during past 24 hours. The highest amount of rainfall of 119 mm was recorded in Korukonda area followed by Podia (108.2 mm) and Chitrakonda (104 mm). While Kalimela registered the maximum rainfall of 94 mm, Khairput recorded 94 mm followed by Mathili (87 mm) and Malkangiri (77 mm) yesterday.

Moreover, landslide occurred at Nuapalli village under Nuagada Block in Gajapati district due to heavy rainfall activity.
