Water restoration complete in cyclone FANI-hit ULBs of Odisha

Bhubaneswar: In order to restore normalcy in everyday life in the aftermath of Cyclone FANI, water restoration has been fully achieved in urban areas of Cuttack, Khordha, Jatni, Bhubaneswar, Nimapara and Puri.

The Public Health Engineering Organisation (PHEO) teams have succeeded to revive the water supply with the help of 214 heavy duty diesel generator sets, 339 water tankers and 1029 PVC tanks in the above areas.

108 heavy duty diesel generator sets, 145 water tankers and 600 PVC tanks were deployed in Bhubaneswar alone, to ensure water availability to about 10 lakh residents of Odisha capital, within four days of the natural disaster striking.

Similarly, within 76 hours of the landfall of the cyclone, Puri town and Konark town areas have been provided with treated pipe water and normal water supply, respectively.

Furthermore, infrastructures have been repaired and rehabilitated in the entire Nimapara town to facilitate supply in all the water stressed areas.
