‘Wearing helmet while driving depends on my wish, won’t pay fine’

Cuttack: As the Motor Vehicles (Amendment) Act was enforced again in Odisha today, police tightened the traffic rules. The Commissionerate Police officials checked vehicles and fined traffic rule violators at different squares in Bhubaneswar and Cuttack as well.

During the checking in Cuttack, cops caught a woman motorist who was driving her two-wheeler without wearing helmet. When the police fined the woman under the MV Act, she reacted sharply and presented surprising arguments.

“I will not wear helmet and there is not anything new today. I am driving without helmet at my own risk and police have nothing to do it. If I will die, it is a loss to my family members and police have nothing to do,” argued the woman.

Later in the day, the woman went to the traffic police station and paid the fine.
